Situated between the beautiful Illawarra Escarpment and the pristine Lake Illawarra. Dapto is a suburb of the Illawarra and is positioned West between Wollongong and Shellharbour, and only a short 96 kilometre journey to Sydney. With a combination of mostly residential and some strata properties, it has much appeal to families, retirees and those who enjoy a community feel lifestyle, it is also a popular choice of location for workers who commute to Sydney and property investors.
Dapto is home to 10,735 residents (as at 2011 ABS Census) and has an area size of 7.15 square kilometres. Situated only 16 kilometres south of the major CBD, and some of the best beaches that the South Coast offers.


You are spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting a great place for childcare, primary and secondary schools around Dapto. There are two public High Schools located North and East of Dapto and multiple Primary schools located conveniently in each suburb of Dapto with Dapto Primary, Hayes Park Primary School, Lakelands Public School, Mount Brown Primary School and Koonawarra Public School. Local childcare facilities include Little Peoples Dapto, Goodstart Early Learning Centre, Big Fat Smile, Grandma Rosie’s and Dapto Cuddles Child Care, with many family day cares there is no lack of childcare facilities available for working family’s needs. There are also plenty of direct bus routes to higher and secondary education schools both North and South of Dapto

On a Thursday night, Dapto showground is the place to be for the famous “Dapto Dogs” and is also the location for events such as the annual monster trucks tour, Dapto Agricultural show and many more yearly calendar events. Dapto is home to multiple sporting fields and leisure amenities, if you enjoy water sports, fishing, cycling, a BBQ picnic by the lake, or a stroll around the point.


Bus routes are accessible all around Dapto, whether the commute is North, East or South, having 2 major bus stops along the Princes highway just outside Dapto Mall, and multiple pick up or drop off stops along the way. Freeway access is an easy few minutes’ drive wherever you may location within the suburb of Dapto, making it an easy commute to work via car, or leave your car at home or at the station car park and catch the train to Sydney, which is roughly an hour and a half train trip, or plan a day out with the kids down to Kiama, Berry or Bomaderry, which takes the same amount of time to drive as it does to catch the train. For students who study at the local TAFE or renown Wollongong University, it is a quick 15 trip up the M1 freeway from Dapto.
