Situated between the beautiful Illawarra Escarpment and the pristine Lake Illawarra, Brownsville is a suburb of the Illawarra and is positioned West between Wollongong and Shellharbour, and only a short 96 kilometre journey to Sydney. On a Thursday night, Dapto showground is the place to be for the famous “Dapto Dogs” and is also the location for events such as the annual monster trucks tour, Dapto Agricultural show and many more yearly calendar events.
Brownsville is home to leisure activities, if you enjoy hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing or fishing in Mullet Creek or attending local Rugby or Soccer games on the weekend. If you’re planning a function or an escape from the kids on a Saturday night, the Dandaloo Hotel is a lively place to go.


Bus routes are accessible all around Brownsville, whether the commute is North, East or South, having 2 major bus stops along Kanahooka Road and multiple pick up or drop off stops along the way.
Freeway access is an easy few minutes’ drive wherever you may location within the suburb of Brownsville, making it an easy commute to work via car, or leave your car at home or at the station car park and catch the train to Sydney, which is roughly an hour and a half train trip, or plan a day out with the kids down to beautiful Kiama, Berry or Bomaderry, which takes on average the same amount of time to drive as it does to catch the train.
For students who study at the local TAFE or renown Wollongong University, it is a quick 15 trip up the M1 freeway from Brownsville.
